Tonight, Bridget started her very first swim class with the Virginia Beach Parks and Rec. Its an adult-toddler class, so Mommy got to get wet as well. Bridget was ready to jump in the water the second she could see the pool through the doors. Didn't even want to wait to take her clothes off or for Mommy to get changed. She finally got through all that process and we walked out to the seating area beside the pool to wait for class to start. As we were waiting, Bridget kept inching closer to the edge of the pool. I was certain she'd take a dive if I had let her.
Once class started, Bridget was laughing and having a great time. She even looked at me at one point and said "This is fun, Mommy!" The class, being specifically for toddlers, centers around songs and games meant to teach basic swimming principles: kicking, swimmer's crawl, and getting comfortable putting your face in the water by blowing bubbles. By the end of just this one class, Bridget could do a pretty decent doggy paddle. With me holding her up, of course. And as with every activity that Bridget loves to do, it was hard for her to understand that it was time to go. The entire time in the locker room as we changed into our warm, dry clothes, she kept saying "Get in water now." This could be the best idea I've ever had thus far for entertaining Bridget.
Bridget loves her "baby suit".
